After Steinway & Sons (top class) was sold by the family to CBS-Columbia in 1972, the company also started to develop and manufacture middle and lower class pianos and grand pianos. Against this background, Boston (middle class) was marketed by Steinway in Europe in 1992, followed by Essex (lower class) in 2001.
The production of Essex was initially outsourced to the Korean company Young Chang, but unlike the Boston brand, Essex did not succeed.
In 2005, Steinway & Sons therefore partnered with the highly modernized Chinese Pearl River factory in Guangzhou. The goal was to build new models that could compete with Yamaha, Kawai and Samick. In 2006 the following new Essex pianos were launched on the market: EUP-116 E, EUP 116 QT silent, EUP-123 E SE and EUP 123 QT silent. Under the brand name Essex two grand pianos are produced, the EGP-155 C and the EGP 173 C.
For all Essex instruments the tuning block, the stringing, the armoured frame and the grid beam construction are designed by Steinway.
Sometimes a novice pianist does not yet know which instrument he or she would like to have at home to start playing the piano. That is why you can also rent the pianos at Bol Pianos. In that case, you can first play the instrument at home on the basis of monthly rent, after which you can always proceed to purchase it.
Renting is only possible with our acoustic pianos and grand pianos.
If you would like to know more about the possibility of renting, you can do so via our contact form, or you can also send an e-mail to info@bolpianos.nl
